SIEMENS @ IFA 2013 – CONNECTIVITY & NEW USER INTERFACE

Siemens presented a new take on the digitally enhanced home called “SIEMENS CONNECTIVITY”. The wifi-enabled devices are linked to a smartphone app that allows the user to check, control and show the user manual and help the repair team – from his or her armchair.

The new SIEMENS fridge takes an image of  its contents everytime the door is closed. The app shows these images and automatically creates a list of the content. Compared to SAMSUNG’S fridge app that lets you enter each and every item by hand (or finger) this seems like more common sense approach.

The cooktops sport a new improved user interface with the possibility to directly choose the heating level without the unnerving clicking through the single 1-2-3-4 etc. Additionally the cooktops include a “reset” button to reset the heating levels. This comes in handy when you have accidentally pushed the “off” button.
